With this tour I will show you the Jewish heritage sites of Budapest. As this is a private tour, the pace will be adjusted to meet your needs. Our main objective is to ensure that you have an enjoyable, educational and relaxing experience.
During this tour we visit the Jewish Quarter walk through the former ghetto area, visit the Dohany Synagogue the largest Synagogue in Europe. The buildings and the courtyards of the Synagogue include the Jewish Museum, the Heroes’ Temple, the Jewish Cemetery and the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Garden. Countinue our walk to the Carl Lutz Memorial and then to the Rumbach synagogue – which is more like a museum, it is not a functioning synagogue. From there we walk through the Gozsdu Courtyard, a long series of connected courtyards, stop at a small local kosher sweetshop for a Flódni and countinue to the Kazinczy Synagogue and Community Center – the orthodox section, the Mikvah building from outside, the kosher stores (Pizza & Bakery, Butcher’s Shop), learn about the kosher availabilities in Hungary today. If you want and have a little more time we can also include the Shoe Memorial and /or visit the Glass house.
