Private wine tour to Villány Wine Region
Take an excursion to Villany the most southern Hungarian wine regions where you can taste quality red and rosé. The area has a sub-mediterranean character hot summer, mild winter with a lot of sunshine that is why the wines from Villány are full-bodied and spicy and of the highest quality. The treasures of the region include the protected streets of cellars in Palkonya, Villánykövesd, Villány, Nagyharsány and Kisharsány, the cellars and press houses scattered around in the vineyards of Siklós. During our twine tasting tour you can also discover the architectural and cultural heritage of the wine region, you can also visit wonderful cities, e.g. Pécs, the thermal baths in Harkány, the medieval castle in Siklós.
During the day you can visit two or three wineries – a well know famous wine cellar – Sauska, Bock or Gere or Tiffany – and you will have the opportunity for wine tasting in smaller ones where the owner can show you the callar and talk about his/her wine. We can also tour the cellar and the wine growing lands and there will be opportunity to taste traditional home made lunch as well.
The region is best known for Cabernet Franc along with the other ‘Bordeaux varieties’ like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but Portugieser is also in important player in Villány, as well as Kékfrankos, Zweigelt, Kadarka and Pinot Noir vines are also planted here.
